[Answer]Adding MP3 Music to Media player

Question:I have ciopied music from my ipod to the computer. The files come over as MP3. If I open them they play and go into the Media Player library and are  accessable in Media Centre. They perform the same as WMA files.

However, They do not apear in Explorer under 'Music'. As I back up my music by copying the 'Music' folder, I am not backing up all my music.
Although in Media Player the files have all the correct information for the tracks, including Artist name, they don't go to 'Music'.

How can I get these files into 'Music'?

Hello wildmanv,

Thank you for using Microsoft Answers forums.  Click on Start and in the search box type in the name of one of the songs.  Right click on the file and select open file location.  This will give you the location of the music files.  Then copy the files from that location to your Music folder.

Thanks for using the Answers Forum. Please let us know how this works out.

Answer 3:Thanks for the reply. I should have made myself more clear. I have all this mp3 music in a folder and each file looks like this -

'QOVRMP3 '(as the file name) followed by  Artist name, album Name and genre.

If I open this file, as you suggest I have to select Media Player, Itunes etc, I select Media player,  it plays and goes into the Library.

If I copy it to 'Music' It is just like transferring the file, I was hoping to get these tracks in the same Format as the existing music I have burned from CD's ie, as an album under each artist. What I am getting is a list of files at the end of the current music in the above format.
