[Answer]Cannot connect to wireless HDD due to NetBIOS, what is it and how do i enable it?

Question:

I'm sure this has been asked before but my flatmates and I have recently purchased a Mac Time Capsule wireless HDD/Router. I can use the internet fine, but when I attempt to connect to the HDD (called AirPort Disk) it comes back to me saying "Could not connect to the disk. Please ensure NetBIOS is enabled and try again (53)"

I have the correct password, and we have reinstalled the software twice. Help?

They both have Mac Notebooks so connection isnt an issue for them.

I have tried activating BIOS from pre start up menus but to no avail.

Laptop specs :

Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

Toshiba Notebook, 3.3 Rating, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7250@ 2.00Ghz 2.00Ghz, 1GB Ram, 32-bit OS

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hello Malcom B,

Thank you for using Microsoft Answers forums.  You need to start this service if it is not running.  You will need an account with Administrator Rights.  Click on Start (Orb) à Control Panel à  Administrator Tools à Services.  Scroll down to TCP/IP NETBIOS Helper and verify that its started, if not the double click on it and select start.

Thanks for using the Answers Forum. Please let us know how this works out.
