Question:
Hi everyone, I'm new to forums in general and I thought I would use this to get help with a Networking problem I have.
I have two desktops, one that is running Vista Home Premium and the other one is running XP Professional. The issue is that I have a home network after installing a new router and both computers receive Internet and are connected to the network but I can't get them to share files and printers (The printer is connected to the Vista Machine). I do have Network Discovery on, file sharing, Public Folder Sharing, and Printer sharing on in Vista. Also both computers are set on the same Work-group, but the real deal is that when I click on the Vista machine on "My Network Places" in XP I get an error about not having persmission from the network admin. and vis versa with the Vista Machine.
Does anyone know how to give another computer permission or have a clue on how to solve this. I've tried countless things and I still can't get anything to work.
Any Ideas or help would be very much appreciated, Thanks.

Hi VistaFan001,
Thank you for using Vista Support forum,
First, let go through this list of settings for network sharing and double check everything to make sure they are match. Here's the link to a post with all the settings listed for you:

Second, do you have the same account on each computer? In some situation, this might be required. Before changing to the new router, do you have problem sharing files? Or access shared resources?
Looking forward to hear from you soon,

Answer 3:Thanks for the response but I'm still having trouble. I checked out the other forum link you sent me and I had all those things done except for changing settings in mcafee, so I did that but still no luck. About the having the same account though, I've heard about doing something like that but I wasn't sure about it. How would that help and would the account have to be exactly the same as the network admin. One more thing, I noticed that the error on the Workgroup Vista machien said network path not found, I guess thats been there or not I don't know.
Thanks for the help, hope we can get this figured out.
