Question:Hello!
How do I get copies of dvd movies to play in media center? They seem to have just stopped playing.
I have 2 dvd rw drives, the optiarc that came with the computer, and a samsung that I purchased seperately, both write and read to all media.I still can play commercially recorded dvds.
I have a Gateway Desktop with 32bit vista it's about a year old, and the software is up to date from what windows updater says.
When I put in one of the discs now it loads media center starts the controls appear, then the play button turns into the pause symbol, and thats all that happens.I have'nt seen any error messages or anything else,it just shows the black screen, for how long I don't know.I did let it run for about 4 minutes the first time.
The movies will play on stand alone dvd players here in the house just not on the computer.I've checked everthing I can think of,which is not much considering this also is my first computer, and the computer experience .
I'm hopeing someone can help me out with this.
THANKS!!!

Answer 2:Hello BIGEMANN,
Since other DVDs play then its the DVD-rw. They may be corrupted or in an unsupported format. I suggest you burn the DVD's again in a supported format. You can also try burring them on a different media. The DVD-RW may be bad.
Thanks for using the Answers Forum. Please let us know how this works out.

Answer 3: Hi Joesph,
Thanks for the reply.I will try to burn in a different format with different media as you suggest.
I'm new at using a computer so it can take awhile for me to get it right.I think I should have mentioned that the dvd's will play with nero, and catalyst media centers,if that maybe tells you anything that helps.I will let you know what happens.
again THANKS!!!
BIGEMANN
