Question:I'm running Vista. I downloaded my music from my dying mp3 player, but it won't play on my computer because it says I need to download a license. When I try to do so it gives me that error message and no information on fixing the problem.
Thanks

Hello earthenvessel02,
Thanks for using the Microsoft Answers Forum
The first thing that comes to mind when you say that it is asking for a plug-in is the Digital Rights Management (DRM). This rights management system will not allow you to download plug-ins or play files if you are not authorized and have the proper credentials to do so. If these are files you have downloaded from a particular site, you might want to go back to that site and see what they say about the plug-ins needed to play the files.
Were you using this mp3 player on another computer which the files were transferred onto the player initially? If so, this may be the reason for the denial of access of the files now. Contact the maker of the mp3 player and get further instruction from them about the license. You can also try to burn the files to a disk and see if they can be played using that medium.

Answer 3:Thanks.
I loaded them onto a computer I no longer have from CDs - almost all of which I have, but I can't find a couple of my favorites and wanted to get them from my player. The maker's site isn't very helpful and requires $20 to get support, which I'm guessing won't help. I just figured I needed a plug-in download from the message I got. Actually, I'm not even using Netscape, I'm using Firefox, so I think that whole message is screwed up. The player's not quite dead yet, though it's not portable anymore. Maybe I'll find the CDs by the time it's dead...
Thanks though.
