[Answer]windows photo gallery wants to import (and duplicate) photos already imported

Question:

Computer used to only import my newest pictures from the memory card.  Now every time I want to import only my newest photos, it imports all of them.  I now have many duplicates of pictures.  So each time I want to import only a few photos, I end up having to delete all the extras.  What would have happened to change this feature...I thought Vista was not supposed to duplicate photos???

Hi Lisa Penn,

Thank you for posting on the forum. Let's check your settings in Photo Gallery to make sure that the file names of the original picture be the same.

Open "Windows Photo Gallery" >
Click on "File" >
Click on "Options" >
Click on the "Import" tab. >
Under the "File Name" drop down menu please select "Original File Name" >
Click "OK"

Now try to import some new pictures, is it still duplicating?

Hope that helps, please post back and let us know if that worked for you.

Answer 3:I'm having the same problem and the above "solution" didn't work for me.  Any other suggestions?
