[Answer]My new laptop can not communicated with netgear wnr2000 router

Question:Recently, I bought new laptop HP-G60 and new netgear wnr2000 (N router).  I decided retire my old laptop and G router (motorola). Both of them works fine.  I thought I get new laptop and N router I will get faster sulf the web.
I install the netgear sw (self installation disk) to my new laptop.  I can logon the internet by RJ45 hook up directly from laptop to  4th LAN port of router.  This is not what I want... I want wireless logon.
As soon as I disconnect RJ45 from my laptop, I can not logon the internet.  I tried many ways to fix this error ...like try reconnect  it but no hope.  The error said "the window is not communicate with the router" (my new laptop run Vista).

On the other hand, I have Nintendo DS, Ipod Touch and Wii . These devices are wireless .  At first they are not worked but later on I discover the Netgear has option to add the external devices  so I added all of them (MAC address). Then I test all of them. They are working great.  I mean that I can play multiplayer on DS, Wifi with Wii, Ipod touch download songs, etc..

The only problem is my laptop can not talk to netgear (by wireless).  Can anybody  help me with this? I spent 700$ for new laptop and 100$ for router  but I can not get  the most out of them.

Again, I  truly appreciated

Thanks, LOC

Answer 2:

Netgear usually puts the PIN number on a sticker on the router. Find this number for later. Open Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center, and doubleclick the Network icon in the center of the display. This will open the 'Network' folder, and find two instances of your router, wired and wireless. Rightclick the wireless router icon, and then "Configure". It will ask for the PIN number you found earlier. If you have trouble following the setup procedure, look in the help and support app, 'under Troubleshoot problems finding wireless networks'

I recent post this question, I just wonder that, it is possible the security sw include  in my new HP laptop can cause  a problem (I mean that it is prevent the laptop talks to router).

Can I remove this security sw  from my laptop and test it out?  I can back it up and after test I will it  it back.

Any suggestion... It is really pain because I want to free move my laptop around the house- not chain my self in one place.

On the other hand , I have some GEEK SQUAD ( Computer NERD!!!) in my area . They can install or fix it for 100$ .  I do not want to spend 100$ because I am so close to what I want (my laptop just not wireless...)
