On September 27, 1949, the First Plenary Session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference unanimously approved that the capita of the People’s Republic of China was concluded to be Beiping, and starting from the same date, the name Beiping was changed into Beijing.

Beijing, briefly known as Jing, is the location of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China. One of the four municipalities directly under the central government, Beijing is the political, economic, S&T and cultural center of the country, the second largest city in China, overall hub of China’s land and air transportation and the most important center for domestic and international exchanges. Beijing has successfully hosted the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

With a history of over 3000 years and a capital history of more than 850 years, Beijing is a famous historical and cultural city in the world and one of the four ancient Chinese capitals. Today, Beijing has already developed into a modern international metropolis.

1949年9月27日，中国人民政治协商会议第一届全体会议一致通过中华人民共和国的首都定于北平，即日起北平改名北京。

北京，简称京，是中国共产党中央委员会、中华人民共和国中央人民政府所在地。中央四个直辖市之一，是全国政治、经济和科学文化的中心，是中国第二大城市，同时也是中国陆空交通的总枢纽和最重要的国内外交往流中心。北京已经成功举办了2008年北京奥运会。

北京有着3000余年的悠久历史和850多年的建都史，是世界历史文化名城和中国四大古都之一。今日的北京，更已发展成为一座现代化的国际大都市。
