Question:Let me explain further...
I can play a DVD movie or a movie clip (avi) with success. WMP comes up and works perfectly. But when I double cllick a song file (mp3) the file comes up in WMP and looks as those it's playing. But no sound.
Facts:
Vista Ultimate SP1
WMP 11
All updates have been applied successfully
Any ideas?

Answer 2:Hi mikev9999,
Thank you for using Vista Support forum,
You can download and reinstall WMP 11 here. It should help solve your problem.

Answer 3:I would love to do that, but I get the following message:
"There is a more recent version of Windows Media Player
(11.0.6001.7000) already installed on your computer. It is not possible to
use an older installation package (11.0.5721.5146) to install files or to
repair your current version of the Player."
Yet, when I go to the Programs & Features in Control Panel there is no Windows Media Player to uninstall.
