Question:After a Windows update installation overnight, my computer goes to configure the update. It stops at Step 3 of 3, 93%, shuts down, starts up again. The same screen appears-configuring Step 3 of 3, 93% and shuts down. What can I do? Thanks
Answer 1:I also wanted to say it's Windows Vista, home edition. I don't know anything else at this point and can not get in to the computer to get more information. I did try safe mode and it came up the same thing.
Answer 2:Hello Imaco,
Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers forum.
When the computer is booting up press F8 untill you see the Boot Options, and select Last known good configuration.
Thanks,
Martin

Answer 3:I tried that and it did not work. I got as far as step 3 of 3 and 0%. I have tried everything. My computer will not windows in safe mode. When i try to restore vista takes over and resets me to step 3 of 3. Talk about frustrating, Microsoft really pulled a good one this time. So far I have lost 15 hours productive time trying to resolve and have now had to pay someone to come in and try to fix it. Thanks a lot.
