Samba75 USB GPRS/EDGE Modem cant connect after installing Vista SP1

Question:Dear all,

I have a notebook running Windows Vista Home Premium. I cannot connect to Internet using my Samba75 USB GPRS/EDGE modem right after I install Vista Service Pack 1.

Any idea on how to solve this? Is this because of some network security options has been added by Vista SP1 that disallowed me to connect using my modem?

Regards.

Answer 1:Hi kyphang

Thank you for your post here on the Microsoft Answers Forum.

You may need to re-install your Edge Modem Driver again.

You can also try disabling IPv6 Protocol:

If you still have issues, disable the Windows Firewall, can you connect?

Please Post back and let us know if any of these suggestions resolved your issue.

Answer 2:hi Ken,

Thanks for the reply.

I found that one the services that required to support diap-up networking is some how corrupted (that is, when you get into Services, you can start/stop/restart the service. all options is Disabled). I not sure whethere this is the root cause, but I guess so. FYI, I have already disabled all firewall, including Windows Firewall.

I solve this by reinstalling a fresh copy of Vista. Fed up to do trousbleshooting.

Answer 3:Hi Ken,

I have try all those thing.. reinstall the driver, disabled the protocol... at last i notice that the service related to the dial-up networking is not started, and I cant get it started (when right click on the service name, all the "start", "stop", "restart" options are being disabled..) the service is not running, and i cant restart it because all the options are disabled...

I have given up to continue troubleshooting, and as I stated in my previous reply, I have solve this issue by formatting my notebook and reinstalling a fresh copy of Win Vista..

Thanks.
