Question:i can not install an important update. please advise
Answer 1:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads
Would you kindly post your question at the above Windows Update Forum.
You are in "Install, upgrade and Activate" Forum.
And include Operating System
> what update you were trying to install
> how long have you had the problem
> is your computer still useable etc.
And error codes are normally 8 digits, not 9.
Cheers.

Answer 2:Hi Mike,
sorry I was short on details.
I have Vista home premium with SP2
I receive the above error code when i try installing an update that was downloaded
.NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 x86 (KB963707)
Installation date: 6/28/2009 10:03 AM
Installation status: Failed
Error details: Code 80070663
Update type: Important
I do not know if the failed installation is related to this particular file, but before 6-28-09 all updates seem to work. for some unknown reason, I do receive a lot of Windows XP updates and the system tells me these are not applicable to my system.
The sytem otherwise works fine, although IE8 is very slow (it can take up to 30 seconds for the text I just typed to appear on screen) and asks me to 'sign in' every 15 minutes.
Quite honestly, I was a lot happier with Windows 2000 and even XP compared to Vista.
let me know if u have any suggestions,
sincerely,
Matt
