Question:Months ago Movie Maker worked normally.
Now, when I drag a video into the 'timeline' at the bottom of the screen, and I push the 'Play-button' it won't run.
(When I drag it into the audiopart, it runs! But only the sound can be heard.)
What can I do to repair this?
Answer 1:
Hi nimmerdor,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the Microsoft Answers Forums.
What changes have been done to your system prior to this issue occurring?
Please make sure you have all the current updates and drivers available for your system as well.
Have you tried to do a system restore back to a date and time when Movie Maker worked normally?
Please post back with the answers to the questions we have asked and try and run a system restore and post back to let us know if the system restore helped to solve your issue or not so that we may further assist you in finding the proper resolution.

Answer 2:Hi Robyn,
I did restore de operating system, but it was not the solution. There were no changes in my system. One day it worked normally, the next day there was this problem.

Does this occur with all video clips or just certain formats? You
may have an issue with an incompatible format.
Have a look at the following article:
File type compatibility with Movie Maker
http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/MovieMaker/File_type_compatibility.htm
Or you might try the following...
Open Movie Maker and go to...Tools / Options / Compatibility tab...
uncheck all the filters / OK. If this does not help...try the same steps
and click the 'Restore All Defaults' button / OK.
If you still cannot view a video clip...try downloading and installing the following Codec Pack:
(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System Restore Point before installing software)
CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack)

Good luck.
