Question：I am trying to upload a video to both You Tube and Facebook from Movie Maker on Vista, yet both programs say they do not support the MSWMM file name extension. How can I change the extension to wmv or something supported by those programs without destroying the file?
I have already changed the file name ext. by renaming the file, but it destroyed it and I was not even able to view it.

Try highlighting your video on the collections list and then clicking save movie on the top of the toolbar. Go through the steps and it should save it as a wmv.

In movie maker, there is not a Save Movie option and I have no way to change the extension. Please help. This is incredibly frustrating. I put in time combining movies and saved it as a project which would only save as a MSWMM extension and you tube will not support this type. I need to save as MOV or WMV or something different. Please be as detailed in your response as possible as I am not well versed in the computer terminology. Thank you

.mswmm is the project file and is only useful for re-editing in Movie Maker.
For your purpose...you need to "Publish" (Vista speak for Save Movie File)
the file to the .wmv format.
