Question:I'm having problems viewing media in botn wmp and photo gallery after I installed vista sp2.
I tried to do a systems restore which helped but two days later the problem is back.
When using wmp, there is sound put no picture.
When using windows photo gallery, it is impossible to view pictures unless you do it in slideshow mode.
It's not a codec related problem, that's checked.
It seems to be a directx problem, Even though dxdiag cannot find any probems. But if I open nvidia display there should be a directx animation running, but there is not.
please help!
regards Mikkel
Answer 1:
Hi Mikkel,
Thank you for posting on the forums.
From your description, sounds like you're problem is with your video drivers. Have you tried uninstalling/updating your video drivers? Please give that a try and post back with your results.

Answer 2:Hi JohnD
Thanks for your response.
I've tried reinstaling, updating, downdating the video drivers, but no luck so far.
I've also tried doing a SFC scan but no problems found.
My system is a Dell XPS 420 with a Intel Q6600 and a Geforce 8800GT card. I've also tried installing a videodriver from dell, but stil no luck.
Answer 3:Hi Mikkel_OEH,
If you think it is DirectX problem, have you try to reinstall DirectX with the latest version?
Perform a Clean Boot and download, then reinstall DirectX.
How-to run Windows in Selective Startup (Clean Boot)… |
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click System and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click System Configuration. 2. Click Continue, or provide Administrator credentials if prompted. 3. Click the General tab, and click Selective startup. 4. Under Selective startup uncheck Load startup items. 5. Click the Services tab, check the Hide all Microsoft services box, and then click Disable all. 6. Click the Apply, then OK, and then Restart.
After finishing restart, enable half of the services and reboot again to see if the problem return. If problem return, continue disable services to one by one to determine the service causing the problem. |
Download the latest DirectX
