Here's a weird question.....my sound doesn't work on the net!!

Question:I'm wondering if I inadvertantly deleted something!  I don't think I did, but I was just on FoxNews.com and tried to play a video. I got the video okay, but no sound. It's the same on a couple of opther sites as well.

Thanks for any help!!

Answer 1:

Hello FlaPilot,

.

Are you lacking sound on all websites? Has this problem recently started after installing a program or update?

Does your sound work for other programs like to watch videos or listen to music locally on the hard drive?

Lots of sites use applications such as Flash or Java to play certain content. Make sure that these sites are not utilizing some kind of internet application to play content. Another possibility would be that these sites are having some sort of technical difficulty that prevents the audio from playing. You might contact the webmaster of the site and see if this is the case.

If this is not the case, please check your audio driver and software settings to see if there might be something preventing the audio then repost here to let us know what you have found.

Answer 2:FlaPilot,

I had the same problem about an hour ago and got it fixed by manually going to Windows Update and installing the updates.

Apparently, Realtek and other audio related files had to be updated.

Hope this helps.
