Question:I thought that it would be possible to transfer my programs from Vista to Windows 7 (RC) but so far I did not find a way. I really like Windows 7, but if I have to transfer my programs manually I would not be inclined to change.
Am I simply not experienced enough or is it (presently?) not possible?
Answer 1:You can not transfer Programs from one Operating System to another Operating System by moving Program Files..
When you install a Program, it spread throughtout the System: Program Files, Registry, etc.
It has to be a clean install of the Programs from their original Media: CDs, DVDs, etc.
The only way to keep them is to Upgrade Vista to Windows 7 when the Retail Windows 7 is released..

Answer 2:It is PATHETIC that after all these years of selling Windows OS, Microsoft still can't manage transferring installed applications. I have literally dozens of apps on my two Vista Ultimate PCs and requiring me to manually install each one is ridiculous. Doubly pathetic is that the transfer wizard does not run on 64 bit windows.
MS doesn't even fully support it's premier OS.
Running an upgrade install is a joke as it doesn't repair any issues in the old version OS and simply installs over the top, making a problem worse.
