Question:Hey everyone
I've been trying to install SP1 for vista, it wasn't showing on my windows update so I was trying to install it manually. After a really long download, SP1 tried running but then told me that it was already installed, and it actually isn't :S I've checked on my computer > system properties and I have SP2 installed but not SP1.
I'm running Home premium on a Vaio laptop, Intel Core Duo CPU, T5800 @ 2.00GHz, 32-bit operating system (sorry don't know which is relevant)
I've seen similar problems for people with SP2 no one seemed to have this problem with SP1, help appreciated.
thanks :)
Answer 1:If you did not already have Service Pack 1 installed, you would not be able to downloaded/installed Service Pack 2.
In System Properties, it is not going to say SP1 AND SP2 is installed.
It only gives the number of the last Service Pack installed, which in your case is SP2.
So, stop trying to download Service Pack 1; it is already installed.

Answer 2:oh :$ when i read there should be a reference to SP1 and SP2 on system properties when installed I thought they meant both will show :$ thanks, that saves me a lot of trouble :$
Answer 3:Nope.
Only the final one that it is up to shows up there in System.
Everything in these also works on time.
You can not install SP1(after having SP2 installed), as SP1 has become an earlier version of Vista + SP2.
And SP2 has become the latest vista version.

XP is the same.
It is up to SP3; but only SP3 shows.
