Question:is there any way not to install or hide ie8, because when i try to use my online banking i cant get into my account and im not sure if i will have any trouble with other sites that i pay bills online
Answer 1:Change how you get your Updates:
Click Start > Right-click Computer > Properties > Windows Updates down the bottom left corner > Change Settings up the top left corner next
> Change Update Settings in next page from Auto Update to "Check for updates but let me choose etc"> OK
When you look in the list of waiting updates, you can either download/install them, or:
You can right-click on IE8> UAC Prompt > Hide It
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And if you have installed IE8, how to uninstall it:
2. Click Start > Right-click Computer > Properties > Windows Updates down the bottom left corner > Installed Updates in bottom left corner in next window
> then click which one you do not want > Uninstall will appear at the top > Uninstall it.
Answer 2:Hi,
See
IE8 will not install without your approval. You can "hide" IE8 by running Windows Update manually and unchecking it.
Hope this helps,
Answer 3:Hello Volpol,
Microsoft has also released "Toolkit to Disable Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 8". You can download the toolkit from the below link,
When you run the EXE, it extracts the contents to a folder of your choice (F ex: C:\IE8Blocker). Then open a command prompt in the folder you extracted the blocker tools to and type IE80Blocker.cmd /B and then hit enter.
This creates a registry key at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Setup\8.0
with a key value name of DoNotAllowIE80 and a dword of 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Setup\8.0
with a key value name of DoNotAllowIE80 and a dword of 1
If you later decide to allow the auto download and installation, just change the dword to 0
Hope this helps.
