Please help .... my laptop keep turning on and shutting off after windows upgrade last night

Question:

It was around 1Am in the morning June 12th when I got the automatic update windows message. I started the updates, they finished. I was asked if I wanted to update to Internet Explorer 8 I said 'yes' and I followed the rest. Next thing I know is that once everything was done, my laptop is connected to wireless internet, but when i open up the page it won't display it. It said the page has problem, check your internet connection. I run a windows internet diagnose and it says 'no problem, your internet connection is just fine'. p.s the globe in the bottom right is showing meaning that connection is just fine.
Since I tried fixing the problem but nothing worked I decided to do a 'system restore'. Once I restored the system, then the bigger problem came along. My computer keeps turning on and immidiately shutting down NON-STOP. It gives you the option of choosing the mode you wanna start windows if choosing 'Regular Mode' then it will turn ON and then OFF nonstop. If choosing the 'Safe Mode', it will run without turning off.
What did Windows Update do to my laptop???????? I am going crazy....can't figure it out.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You

Mirela

Answer 1:

Tap F8 at Startup/power on, and from list of Startup options, select Safe mode by using the UP Arrow Key> then hit ENTER.

Once in Safe Mode, do this work:

Click Start > Right-click Computer > Properties > Windows Updates down the bottom left corner > Installed Updates in bottom left corner in next window

> then click which one you do not want > Uninstall will appear at the top > Uninstall it.

Also, on the page where you clicked on "Installed Updates" Click on Change Settings up the top left corner there

> Change Update Settings in next page from Auto Update to "Check for updates but let me choose etc"> OK

When you look in the list of waiting updates, you can either download/install them one at a time, to find out the bad one.

 > or if you do not need a particular one> Right-click on it> UAC Prompt > Hide It

Post back with the Update KB Number you are having trouble with.

Cheers.

Answer 3:

If you read my post:

You have to single-click on the installed Update that you do not want, in the place I told you to go to > Uninstall will appear at the top > Uninstall it.

Cheers.
