Question:I switched my ADSL router off and it caused my laptop to freeze and not be able to reboot again. Send it in for repair and PC shop managed to get Vista back although much, much of my data has been corrupted and could not be recovered. On top of that I get a constant warning that my Vista registration is not valid anymore. Vista was already installed when I got my laptop two years ago and I cannot remember how I registered it the last time although I know I did. I did not get a separate CD with it and don't know where to find the reg key.
I am worried that I will be thrown out totally after a certain time has elapsed. I have already wasted so muc htime on this whole incident and cannot afford another disaster. Will MS be able to give me the information from the previous time I registered?
Answer 1:
You can reactivate your Windows Vista installation by performing the following:
1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in: slui.exe 4
2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
3. Select your Country.
4. Follow the instructions for phone activation (no charge).
NOTE: When you call that number, you will first hear an Automated Voice. If the Automated Voice gives you an option to talk to a
Live Activation Rep, select that option. If not, do not enter any numbers. This should force the Automated Voice to transfer you to
a Live Activation Rep. Trying to activate thru the Automated Voice will not work, in your case, only thru the Live Activation Rep
will your activation be successful.

Answer 2:Thank you Carey. I am legal again!
Answer 3:I have a 6-license copy. I installed Vista on the VM running on my IMAC several times. It seems that it killed all my licenses and I could not installed it on any other computers. What is the proper way I can reactivate my license on a PC? Should I install Vista on the new PC and follow your instructions to execute "slui.exe 4"? Then call the phone activation center.
