Why updates for uninstalled programs?

Question:Windows (Vista w/SP2) Update persists in trying to install "Security Updates for the 2007 Microsoft Office System," although I uninstalled the trial version of Office 2007 that came on my computer. Why do these updates keep appearing? If I let the updates run, they install successfully, but how can they if the Office programs are no longer on my computer? Why would I need security updates for programs that supposedly are not on my computer? The uninstallation went fine, and Office is no longer in my remove programs list. Did it not really uninstall?

Answer 1:I discovered two programs related to Office 2007 that were still installed on my computer: "Activation Assistant for the 2007 Microsoft Office suites" and "Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system." I uninstalled them, and now I no longer get the Office updates. Case closed.
