Question:Will someone there at Microsoft PLEASE give me a solution to this? I see other users having identical problems but none of the solutions offered have worked on my system.
Problem: The guide in my Vista Ultimate 64 Media Center has gone from showing "No Data Available" on two major local stations to showing it on ALL stations, rendering the guide unuseable and the Media Center unprogrammable.
The Media Center and Guide have been terrific features and additions to my ATSC OTA television viewing up until mid-June, when this two-station (and their subchannels) issue first arose. Now it's total.
I have downloaded both MCETVPack-Windows6.0-KB966315-x64.msu and Windows6.0-KB967632-x64.msu but BOTH initiate a dialog box reading "This update does not apply to your system."
I have tried to setup my television options in Media Center repeatedly, but this does not change a thing.
PLEASE give me a solution that will work with my system.
Answer 1:
Hi John Pendleton,
Thank you for using the Microsoft Vista Answers Forum!
Here are some possible reasons why you may be having this issue with Windows Media Center.
· Media Center has been unable to download the new listings.
· Data is not available for your location from the Microsoft TV Listings service provider.
· Media Center determined the existing data on your computer to be expired or corrupt.
Please follow the steps below:
1. Set VMC to 'Manual download' instead of 'Download when connected' in VMC Guide settings and then close Media Center.
2. Stop & Disable these services:-
"Windows Media Center Receiver Service"
"Windows Media Center Scheduler Service"
3. Right click on folder c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome then click Properties and select 'Previous Versions'.
4. Open previous version of folder from yesterday or the day before (whichever is showing).
5. Delete contents of c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome and copy in files from 'Previous Version' folder.
6. Enable & Start these services:-
"Windows Media Center Receiver Service"
"Windows Media Center Scheduler Service"
7. Restart Media Center
I hope this information is helpful.

Answer 2:Okay, found the Services controls within the Control Panel/Aministrative Tools. Got the two services turned off, then went to the folder you specified and found the previous versions. So all that did was restore the same channel programming listings I had before they all disappeared, which still leaves two very important local channels with "Data not available" messages. This is only slightly better, but not a complete or satisfactory fix.
So I'm back to my original problem, and here are the specifics:
Two main channels have consistently shown "No Data Available" since the main digital conversion in June -- which is particularly odd since the stations in question actually transitioned early with no other trouble at all. I am in Denver getting ATSC channels off an Antennas Direct C4 HD antenna, with an amplifier. The Hauppauge hybrid tuner card in the DELL Vista Ultimate 64 machine was getting great guide info right up into the middle of June, when this little issue had KUSA (with subchannels) and KMGH, both owned by Gannett, stopping showing program info.
It's also annoying that the Guide updates give me Colorado Springs stations as well, which are not (and have never been) received up here.
Any helpful fixes for this?
Thanks,
-- John

Hi John Pendleton,
Please verify that the latest windows updates are installed on the computer, including the service packs.
I would like for you to try the following steps as well:
Go to the media guide and select the channel that you have a problem with.
Make sure that you can retrieve the programs before you carry out this procedure, because if you can't receive the programs you will not have the guide listing either.
Open the Program Guide and navigate to the problem channel. Right click on the problem channel and choose settings. Next click TV, then Guide, then add listing to channel, click on the problem channel and change it to one of the channels below the list (e.g. 4Music).
Click the save button. Now click on the channel you selected (e.g. 4Music) and repeat the procedure but this time scroll down further to find the problem channel.
Click save and go to the media guide and the listing should now appear. If this is successful you will need to carry out this procedure for the other channels as well. Check to see if the guide is functioning correctly. Let us know the results in your reply.
I hope this information is helpful.
