Unable to download Windows Updates

Question:I purchased a Dell XPS M1530 less than 2 months ago and including the initial bootup, have been unable to download any Windows Updates.  Several emails to Microsoft and keep getting the same suggestion over and over.  Four hours on the phone/remote sessions with Dell today with no luck.  Here is what I get when I try to update:  Code 80040154 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.  I have tried both the default and agressive fix-its with no change.  At one point over the past couple of weeks I did see this pop up and captured the info:

Answer 1:I have also done the Clean Boot.  Ran the malware scan - nothing.

Answer 3:

Hello,

Thank you for using the Answers Forum!

Have you ever been able to run Windows Updates successfully?

If so, you can try doing a System Restore before this started happening. You can do this by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, open System Restore and choose a date and time before the problem started.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

David
