Question:Good Afternoon,
My computer is running with Windows vista home premium and service pack 1.
I get an update KB948465 for service pack 2.
Is it right to install this update although I am currently running with service pack 1?

Answer 1:
Hi Ollie54,
Thank you for using the Microsoft Vista Answers Forum!
Yes, it is right to install this update. Service Pack 2(KB948465) is the latest service pack made available for Windows Vista after Service Pack 1. It includes support for new types of hardware and emerging hardware standards, and it also includes all the updates that have been released since SP1. You'll find information about the specific changes and improvements included in SP2 below.
Here are some of the improvements in SP2:
• | Program compatibility. Microsoft works to ensure that your programs work seamlessly on Windows Vista. We also work with our partners to improve the reliability and compatibility of non-Microsoft programs. So, SP2 includes previously released updates that are available to you when you use Windows Update, and it also includes new compatibility fixes for individual programs. |
• | Hardware support. Among other improvements, SP2 provides you with additional support for Bluetooth wireless technology and improved performance for Wi-Fi connections after the computer resumes from sleep mode. Additionally, you can now record data to Blu-ray Disc media. |
• | General operating system updates. SP2 includes Windows Search 4.0, which has improved indexing and searching capabilities. SP2 also includes fixes that can improve recording TV using Windows Media Center. |

Answer 2:Hi Mohan,
Thanks for your reply.
My computer unfortunately crashed during update KB948465 (servicepack 2).
The store were I bought my computer luckely fixed the crash for free, although it costs the wizzkids one hour.
I lost however all my data, but I got over it.
Perhaps I have to go back to the store once more because microsoft works and HP diagnostics also disappeared.
I waite still a while perhaps I discover more disappearences.
Anyway there are worse things in live.
Luckely the update KB959426 of witch I alerts on 01 may 2009 succeeded this time, a blessing in disguise I would call it.
My alert of 21 may 2009 concerning 'opening all screens maximised' is still relevant alas.
So I'm still interested and happy if you can find a nice solution for that.

Answer 3:
Hi Ollie54,
I have posted a solution for the your thread titled "All screens opened maximised" as requested.
This seemed to be the best solution I found. Have a Good Day.
