Question:When I go to my foldrs and look at all my pictures it works fine. Then I double click on it to see it bigger and alone and a pop-up comes up. It has a red x and then it says 'Error loading C:\Program Files\Windows Photo Gallery\PhotoViewer.dll and then under that it says 'The specific module could not be found.' All I want is to see my pictures larger like I used to. How do I fix this?
Answer 1:Hello Macycurphyx3,
Thank you for your post. One solution is possibly to remove the profiles installed by your monitor drivers. Please follow the steps below to perform this function.
1. Click on the 'Start Orb' > Click 'Control Panel'
2. Click 'Appearance and Personalization'
3. Click 'Personalization'
4. Click 'Display Settings'
5. Click 'Advanced Settings' > Select the 'Color Management' tab and select the 'Color Management' button
6. Click on the 'All Profiles' tab and remove any profile associated with your monitor (should say display on the right)
Then restart your computer and try to open a picture. If that doesn't work then try the steps below to make Photo Gallery display images by using GDI. I have extracted the steps below from the associate link that is attached.
To make Window Photo Gallery display images by using GDI, you must create a registry key. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit.exe in the Programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
- Click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
- Type Viewer as the name of the new entry, and then press ENTER.
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- Type ForceSoftwareRender as the name of the new entry, and then press ENTER.
- In the details pane, double-click the ForceSoftwareRender entry.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

Modifying REGISTRY settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of REGISTRY settings can be solved. Modifications of these settings are at your own risk.
Cheers
Answer 2:
When you right click on a jpg file and choose Edit you see error message
"Error loading C:\Program Files\Windows Photo Gallery\PhotoViewer.dll"
"The specific module could not be found."
Fix:
Back up and delete the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\edit
Note: There should be no "edit" subkey here
