Upgrading from XP to Vista but XP not currently installed

Question:Hi there,

Here's the position. I have a licence for XP Home (32 bit) but it is NOT currently installed.
I want to upgrade to Vista Home Premium (32 bit).

I could buy Vista from scratch but obviously it is much more expensive than the upgrade package.

The question is, if i bought the XP to Vista upgrade pack, would i have to install XP first, in order to upgrade.
Or do i just need the licence code for XP to install the upgrade.

I've been stuck on this problem for a while now and i'd appreciate any thoughts.
Feel free to ask any questions if it's not clear what i mean.

Answer 1:Yes.

You have to have XP installed to Upgrade to Vista, using a Vista Upgrade Licence from within a running, legal version of XP.

If you do not have the XP CD, contact your Computer Manufacturer.
They will send you an XP CD for a small $ cost.

Cheers.
