Question:Hi,
I've seen some similar questions, but no answers that work...I'm hoping somebody can help.
I'm using a Phillips GoGear 2gb MP3 player that I've had for about a year, and the latest version of Windows Media Player. I also just installed whatever Windows Updates were availble. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium SP 1. I have been able to play and sync with this MP3 player just fine until today. When I plug it in, the device will not show up in windows media player. It will play the music in it, but it won't recognize it to sync to it. The computer knows it's plugged in, but it just never shows up as a device in WMP. I searched Phillips for updates, but I already have the latest driver, so with the latest version of everything, I'm wondering if something in the updates caused the problems. Any suggestions?
Answer 1:Hello Les050,
Thank you for posting. I've checked into your issue and found some possible solutions at the Phillips support site. I've included the link here. http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/faqview?desc=Philips+GoGear+MP3+player+SA2925R+2GB+Rhapsody+music+service+with+FullSound™scy=US&session=20090614030321_131.107.0.72&slg=AEN&refnr=0073454&refdisplay=PAV_GENERAL_PCRECOGNITION_1&dct=QAC&ctn=SA2925R/37
You can also get the newest version of the software for your device at this link.

If none of these help, you can use System Restore to restore your computer to a point before you were having the problem.
Please let me know if this helps you.

Answer 2:Hi Zack,
Thanks for the reply.
None of the Phillps suggestions are applicable, or I have tried them. There is nothing wrong with the USB ports or cable.
As I mentioned, I already have the latest software for the MP3 player and Windows Media Player.
Is there anything else short of doing a system restore point I can do? I know that's pretty much the default MS answer for everything, but I downloaded some music, and I don't want to lose it.
Thanks.
Answer 3:
Hello, Les050
Doing a System Restore shouldn't affect any personal files, it only changes system / application files.
