can't hear audio files in movie maker for Vista

Question: am trying to add a song to the movie I created in movie maker.  The song is in MP3 format.  It imports, but when I drag the song to the audio line and preview the movie there is no sound.  The song looks like it is inthe audio line, but no sound.

Sometimes...Movie Maker has issues with .mp3 files.

Try converting the file to .wmv and re-import it.

The following app can convert it for you:

Windows Media Encoder
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5691ba02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&displaylang=en

How to convert .mp3 to .wma
using Windows Media Encoder

Open Windows Media Encoder

On the New Session screen / Wizards tab...
choose...Convert a file / OK

On the File Selection screen...browse to the
.mp3 Source File you wish to convert

Also browse to and select a save folder and
enter a name for your converted file /
Save button / Next

On the Content Distribution screen I usually
choose 'File Archive' / Next / Finish.

When you see the 'Encoding Results' screen
the task is complete.
