32bit to 64bit install

Question:I want to go 64 bit. I have 32 bit Vista pre and xp pro. versions. Do I have to buy/pay hundreds for new O/S disk? How do I use my same product key for 64bit? I know it has to be a new/clean install. I was told/herd that I could upgrade to 64bit later for a smaller fee. Is/was that true? ever.

Answer 1: You have to get a seperate license key for a 64bit OS.  Make sure your system can handle the 64bit version of the OS by running the upgrade advisor

Answer 2:TY for reply.  how do I get separate license key? Does it come with 64bit OS? Is it a  upgrade?  Do I have to buy/pay hundreds for new O/S disk?
