Windows Update 8007000B Error - "fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\" returns message "Error: The system cannot find the file specified."

Question:Tried to do a Windows Update and received the error message
Windows Update 8007000B Error

I tried the solution suggested in the Windows  at the command promp from the administrators account

fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

and received the error message "

Error: The system cannot find the file specified.

Vista is installed on Drive C:

What now?


Answer 1:Problem went away.

I downloaded two non-microsoft updates and restarted my computer. I then downloaded the microsoft updates which now installed sucessfully.

Answer 2:What non-Microsoft updates were they? Drivers? Application patches?

I'm getting exactly the same situation as Irishmac is (as reported above). I disagree that the response marked as an "answer" is in fact an answer at all!! Downloading two non-MS updates and then restarting the computer is simply a fluke! What is needed is an exact series of steps that anyone can follow to solve this problem.
