Hi Mhbrownell,

Thank you for posting your question on Windows Vista Forums.

I require additional information in order to assist you better.

1.      How long have you been facing this issue?

2.      Do you get any error code when Media Center crashes? (Please specify).

If you get an error code when the Windows Installer crashes, you can try to find the solution on http://support.microsoft.com

3.       Do you remember making any changes on the machine?

Meanwhile, you can try the following method to fix the issue.

You can try to configure the machine in clean boot state and check if a 3rd party software is conflicting with the Windows Media Center. You can try the following link:

You can try to perform a system file scan and fix the corrupt system files if any on the machine. You can try to follow the 1st part of the given link:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/936212

Answer 3:The error message that I get is "Windows Media Center Store Update Manager stopped working and was closed"

This message appears even when I am not trying to run media center.  What do you recommend?
