Blue Screen Error 0x000000F4

Question:Ok, I've had this computer for about a year, maybe two, but so far this has been the only thing that has gone wrong. I'm not sure if I've done anything to effect the computer, so I'm going to tell the whole story, just in case.

Before i was shutting down my computer, a message with 'updates available, restart computer in...' I clicked four hours. I was still rushing, and the computer was taking an agonizingly long time to shut down, so i switched it off at the powerpoint before it was fully shut-down (the screen was black, but the monitor was stil making noises) I came home about 5 hours later, and tried to restart. I boot up, and it says that the last start-up was interupted, and I need to choose a mode: Safe Mode, Safe mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last known Good configuration, or start windows normally. This was still fairly normal, and has happened before.

After this, the computer starts to boot up, only to come up with a blue screen. I managed to read the letter *****STOP: 0x000000F4 and alittle extra, but the screen comes and goes so fast, it's hard to read. It then crashes, and restarts. The same thing happens.

No matter which option I try, the same thing happens. It says something about putting in my Windows CD, clicking languages and then clicking 'Fix my computer', but I can't find the CD, and I'm scared of loosing everything. I'm an idiot and I forgot to get a back-up for my computer on a CD or USB.

please, someone help me!!!

Hi eMiLyY,

In this scenario, there are few step that you may try performing and check if it works.
You would need to arrange for a Vista DVD to follow these steps. Contact your system manufacturer and they would be able to provide you with the Vista DVD.

1) You can try using Startup Repair to find corrupt or missing Vista files preventing it from loading.

Here's an article on how to do that:
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/5c59f8c1-b0d1-4f1a-af55-74f3922f3f351033.mspx

2) Try to perform a system restore from WinRE mode

a) Insert the Vista DVD, and boot from the DVD.
b) As you want to boot the computer from the Windows Vista DVD, you need to press a key, on your keyboard when you see the prompt. You should now see a black screen with a white status bar at the bottom stating Windows is loading files... . After a while, the status bar will turn completely white and you will see a screen stating that Windows is loading. The Windows Setup environment will continue to load and when finished you will be presented with a screen that prompts you for information about your location and language .
c) At this screen you should configure the Language to install , Time and currency format , and Keyboard or input method options so that they are set correctly. When done, press the Next button. You will now be at the main Windows Vista setup screen where you would normally install Vista on to a computer.

d) As we want to repair the computer, you should click on the Repair your computer option. This will bring you to a new screen where the repair process will look for all Windows Vista installations on your computer. When done you will be presented with the System Recovery Options dialog box

e) Select the Vista installation you would like to repair

f) From the system recovery options, choose system restore and restore the computer to the date when it was working fine. From the same list, I would
sugge st to run the memory diagnostics as well.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks and Regards,
Gulrez
