Windows Vista Service Pack 1 won't install.

Question:My computer has attempted to install Vista SP1 since April 09.   I have a Toshiba A215-S4757.  Other updates install w/no problem.

1. Could you post us the exact error message you get while trying to install Service pack1?

2. Did you try to install Windows Vista Service pack1 from the Microsoft Download Center?

3. Is it a 32bit/64bit Vista?

First, verify that your software was installed by using the correct product key. If an incorrect product key may have been used, try to update the product key, and then try to validate again. To update the product key, try to validate the software by visiting the following Web site:

Select Validate Now.

Download the standalone Vista SP1 package from the link provided and install it in Safe Mode.

Go to Method 3 in the link below which tells how to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack from the Microsoft Download Center and download the standalone Vista SP1 package

Steps to boot in safe Mode:

1. Restart your Computer and keep tapping the F8 key before the Windows logo appears.|

2. On the Advanced menu option select Safe Mode and hit enter.

3. Once you boot to the desktop in Safe Mode go ahead and install SP2.

System type  32 –bit OS

 

1. Could you post us the exact error message you get while trying to install Service pack1?  Error Code 80242016

2. Did you try to install Windows Vista Service pack1 from the Microsoft Download Center? It was an automatic update that has been trying to install.  When I looked at downloading from site it would take 11 hours.  I had hoped for it to do automatic since my computer said it was ready for install on my 'automatic updates'.

3. Is it a 32bit/64bit Vista?  32 bit

I validated.  The computer came with Vista already installed.
