Question:I recently purchased a new Vista with Home Premium and have already ordered the 7 upgrade. I now discover I want to end up with 7 Ultimate, Which is the best path for me to get there as far as my computer itself is concerned? Upgrade to Ultimate first, or upgrade to 7 first? Thanks

Answer 2:I'd return what you purchased unopened and wait for Windows7 to be released and then purchase the version you want (Windows7 Ultimate) and upgrade to that from what you currently have. That will be the cheapest way to go otherwise you have to purchase two OS instead of just one (and October is just a month away). To be perfectly honest, I never buy a new Windows OS until at least SP1 has been released (and I waited for SP2 for Vista because even SP1 wasn't stable enough). The initlal releases usually have too many issues with them until they're patched properly - and that usually takes until a service pack is released. But it's your decision. I just wouldn't get two upgrades just so you'll have Vista ultimate until October 22 when you can get Windows7 Ultimate.
