Problem Event Name: BEX, error message

Question:Hi,
I'm working on a tool which is used mainly for replacing the data source location of Crystal XI report batch, this tool is working normally, but when trying to replace data source location of some reports and mainly when looping on report tables to replace the data source of each table, a Bex error is raised

by the way, DEP feature is disabled using command ==>  bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

so

i need to know what is BEX error ?

why this error is raised when working with some reports not all of them?

how can i disable or work around this problem?

Thanks a lot.

Answer 1:

Hi m.2,

Thanks for posting to the Answers Forum.

Apparently, it's an issue with your software addressing the 64-bit nature of Vista.

For more information on BEX (branch extended) errors, you may want to post your question to the Vista TechNet forum:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/category/windowsvistaitpro/

Are you using Vista 64-bit?
Does this error only happen when using this tool?
Can you tell us what the tool is?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Chris

Answer 2:Hi Chris

these are the answers

  1. I'm using 32-bit Vista Business.
  2. Actually, we did not work on Vista for a long time to check if this error is common or related to our Application.
  3. About the Tool, it is nothing but an app. that (Takes Crystal Report XI parameter values from screens, and passing it to report object and then run the report), and the main problem happens with some RPT files when looping on report tables to replace the data source of each table as i told you in the beginning of the thread .
Thanks for your patience.
