Question:Hello, I have upgraded from Windows XP Home to Vista Home Basic. I have installed Windows Updates in the past automatically while using Vista and have not had any problems until this lastest update from Microsoft. I had to install one at a time all updates that were listed in the 11 August 09 post. All installed successfully except for the following.
Whenever I try to update and install KB971657:
First it says the updates were successfully installed restart the computer to finish update.
Second it says configuring updates the computer will shutdown.
Third the computer restarts, comes back on and says configuring updates stage 3 of 3 do not turn off your computer.
Fourth the computer restarts loads various files and stops at a file that says 47/47 (Registry\Machines\Components)
Fifth the computer starts and says Updates were not configured correctly reverting changes do not turn off your computer.
Sixth the computer returns to the desktop with an icon in the tasktray that announces an update needs to be installed, which happens to be the same update.
Need help.
Thank-You in Advance.

"Security Update for Windows Vista (KB971657)"
Above is the direct Download link for the Vista 32bit Operating System Update you are having problems with.
Click start> right-click Computer > Properties > Under System > it will tell you if you have 32bit Vista(It should be 32bit).
Hope that helps.
Cheers.
