WindowsUpdate error_80072ee2 PLEASE HELP ME

Question:I am having trouble downloading service pack for vista 2 and am getting the above error code. It says this is due to hi volumes on the server and to re-try in 15 minutes but have been on this for a week now. Download generally gets to 98% AND then appears to stall. This is also happening with all downloads. Attempting to download an update for Itunes and it gets to 99% and then stalls completely and will not download. Please help because i am tearing my hair out and i am not super computer savy so the simpler the language the better please. thanks much appreciated

Answer 1:Hi Taylor W,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft answers forum for Windows Vista.

Taylor, you are right. As you said, the error you get means that the Windows Update servers might be experiencing an unusually high number of requests for updates.

To work around this issue, you can try  closing Windows Update, wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then run Windows Update again. You can also wait for Windows Automatic Update to run at its next scheduled time.

If you continue to receive error 80072ee2, you might need to add some Windows Update website addresses to your firewall's exceptions or "allow" list.

Please refer the below link for the troubleshooting steps:

Apart from this, you can also try downloading the stand alone package for Windows Vista Service Pack 2. Please follow the below link:
