How to sign in as administrator so I can down load programs.

Question:How do I sign in as administrator so I can down load programs.  I tried to add itunes but I could not add quick time because the message said I have to sign in as adminsitrator.  When the computer is running, can I sign in as administrator?

Answer 1:

Hello MitchK9,

.

Are you currently on a network that is managed by a business or by a network administrator? If this is a personal computer in a home network environment you can click Start, right click on Computer then select Manage. When the Computer Management console appears, click Local Users and Groups. Click on Users and make sure that the Administrator account is enabled and that the account with your name is set to be an Administrator.

You can also try right clicking the file you would like to install and select "Run as Administrator". Enter the proper credentials when asked and then proceed with installing the application.

Please let us know if this helps.

Answer 2:Judd,
When I follow your instructions, I get to the Computer Management console & I do not find 'Local Users and Groups'.  Therefore, I cannot Click on Users and make sure that the Administrator account is enabled etc..

I have Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit).  Do I have a bum version?

Thank you, in advance, for your prompt attention.  I really do need to sign on as administrator as a window informs me when trying to use Sony's DVD Architect Studio version 3.0a.
