Question:I have been using Windows Movie Maker to create movies, and I was trying to add a .mp3 file to a photo slideshow, and it suddenly decided not to work, when adding music to a photo slideshow had worked the previous time I tried it. I have since then restarted my computer several times, and each time it still won't work like it had before. When I drag the .mp3 to the slideshow and try to play it, there is no sound at all. My speakers are on, I've already troubleshooted for that. The .mp3 works when played in a music player (iTunes), it just doesn't play while in Windows Movie Maker. Previously the audio tracks had a way to see the sound waves-where the audio was loud and soft-but recently those too are gone, which is what I'm guessing the problem is. It would be fine if it were just one track that didn't want to play, but I've tried it again with the track that previously worked, and that is no longer working either, and all the other .mp3 files I've put in there do not work either. What can I do to make this work?

Movie Maker has issues with MP3 files...try converting
the MP3 to the WMA format and re-import into Movie Maker.
The following free software can do the conversion:
Windows Media Encoder
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5691ba02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&displaylang=en
How to convert .mp3 to .wma
using Windows Media Encoder
Open Windows Media Encoder
On the New Session screen / Wizards tab...
choose...Convert a file / OK
On the File Selection screen...browse to the
.mp3 Source File you wish to convert
Also browse to and select a save folder and
enter a name for your converted file /
Save button / Next
On the Content Distribution screen I usually
choose 'File Archive' / Next / Finish.
When you see the 'Encoding Results' screen
the task is complete.

Answer 2:Microsoft must fix this. I don't want to have to convert every time.

Maybe the new Windows Live Movie Maker would be worth a try.
