Question:Vista Ultimate services.msc Windows Audio Service not start; gives error Access is denied. How to fix?
Answer 1:Hey CalvinLeman,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum.
Step1:
We need to make sure that Windows Audio Endpoint service and Windows Audio service is started.
Windows Audio service manages audio devices for Windows-based programs.
Since the Windows Audio service is stopped, audio devices and effects will not function properly. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
In order to start the service, follow the steps given below:
1. Click Start, type Services.msc in the Start Search box.
2. Scroll down the list of services, right-click Windows Audio and select Start.
3. Select Properties for Windows Audio and set its Startup Type to Automatic.
If the Windows Audio service does not start and you get the error Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start, then make sure that the following services are started and their Startup Type is set to Automatic.
DCOM Server Process Launcher
Multimedia Class Scheduler
Plug and Play
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Multimedia Class Scheduler
Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
Windows Audio.
"Try going into regedit, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Audiosrv
And in the DependOnService remove all entries except RpcSs and then restart your computer.
If it doesn't fix your problem just add the other 2 dependencies back in or something.
Note: Might not be a bad idea to back up your registry before you make any changes." Please take a registry back up before making any changes".
Right click on the registry account and export to the desktop as backup.reg

If the issue still persists, follow the Step2.
Step2:
Run the System File Checker[SFC], this will scan protected system files and replace incorrect versions, with the correct Microsoft versions of the files.
1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.
2. Click Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.
3. In the Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:
sfc /scannow
4. Press enter.
SFC scan will replace all the corrupted sysytem files.
