Question:Running XP Home, SP3 all security updates installed through 08-12-2009. After the last round of updates downloaded and processed, on reboot, the machine is in reboot loop out to a blue screen with c000012a fatal error, with error code of 0xc0000142. Attempts to use the Repair Facility on the XP Install disk fails, as the disk does not find a valid XP installation on the machine. Using another boot tool, I can see that all the directory structure and files are still on the C drive as they should be. Safe Boot or attempts to go back to last known working configuration do not work either.
How do I get out of this situation?
I do have access to a registry editor at this point.
