no picture from a Toshiba laptop to a magnavox tv

Question：I cannot get a picture from the laptop to the tv.  There was a picture when connections were initially made, but on later tries there was no picture.  The audio connection works fine.  The Toshiba laptop is a satellite A205-S5000.  The S-video port was used as output.  The Magnavox TV is a rear projection model 51MP6100D/37.  The SV-3 input port was used. The cable used is new and is 12 ft long.  The SV-3 input port was used for a DVD player input and works ok.  I am at a loss as to what to do to correct this problem.

Answer 1：Hello mascall;

Try an input settings check, first.  Did you select the correct external input on your television?  Did you try another S-video cable?  Are there alternate A/V inputs on your television to try?

Then try and output settings check, next. Is your laptop set to send video from a file on your computer using an analog tuner card or capture card from an S-Video cable port?

Check these possible scenarios and then get back to us.

On the laptop I was able to use the Fn-F8 keys to bring up a picture on the TV.  All now seems well. Thanks for the help
