Question:I replaced an XP-based computer with a new one running Vista Home Premium. I am a bit hazy on the timeline, as I was doing a lot to move files, etc. from the old computer to the new computer for several days. But, I think that ever since I started using the Vista computer full-time, I have been unable to get audio from any video played in a browser using the Flash player, notably from Youtube.com. This is true for Firefox, IE, and Chrome (all using the latest versions).
I have researched this problem using Google, and come up with a lot of references to solutions, none of which have been effective for me. I have reinstalled the Flash player a couple of times. Since more and more information is being presented today in the form of videos, this is really a crippling condition, and I would like to find a fix.
I can download video files that will not give audio via the player in the browser, and when played from my desktop, they play fine, both audio and video.
Any help to diagnose and repair this would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Answer 1:I've had the same problem with my XP system. Found the answer at http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/08/15/adobe-flash-no-sound-wavemapper-trick/ . I ended up copying the file "msacm32.drv" from my laptop which was working, and inserting it in my PC. My laptop is a 32 bit system and the PC a 64 bit, and this worked for me. Hey, I'm 67 and retired too.
Answer 2:Wow! That did the trick. Now youtube videos play correctly. Thanks for the answer. That particular reference had not yet shown up in my searches for answers to the problem. You are a champ!
