Answer 1:

Hi Tim,

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Answers Community Forums.

Since you are unable to view the .jpg pictures stored on the CD on a Windows XP or Windows 2000 Computer, you may access the link below and follow the steps. It might help us fix the issue.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812003

If you are still having the same issue after following the steps in the article, reply back with the details below:

1. Are you able to open the files and folders on a different computer with Windows Vista?
2. Are you able to access the same CD on a Windows XP computer?
3. Does it happen with all the CD's that were burnt from Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer or is it only this particular CD?

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Srinivas

and let us know what you think

Answer 2:

Hi Srinivas
Thanks for answering
Not sure if your answer is what I wanted  as  these are CD's,  with photos on that I have burnt  with differant computers and even a external  burner    when these things started  about 10 years ago  (I think)  I now have just this one computer with Vista which I am try-ing to open  up these differant burnt CDs

On futher investgation have found  CD rescue software (for a price) that shows the files are on these CDs but one has to PAID to get at them !!!!
which seems strange  that it is all mirosoft
below is the answers to your questions

1. Are you able to open the files and folders on a different computer with Windows Vista?
      ONLY  HAVE ONE COMPTER
2. Are you able to access the same CD on a Windows XP computer?
     ONLY HAVE THIS ONE COMPUTER

3. Does it happen with all the CD's that were burnt from Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer or is it only this particular CD?
YES HAPPENS WITH ALL OLD CD's  JUST SEE THE FIRST FOLDER  WHICH SEEMS TO BE THE LAST FOLDER BURNT ON THE DISC

On  an extra thought  should I have created a folder in each CD, before adding to  it which I did once a month  (which in my case the months photos)  although it must have been orking fine as I would have  opened these store photos  in their  these folders at sometime

 Yours Tim
