windows vista problem

Question:I get a small window when i turn on my lap top that says windows sockets initialization failed. And at the top of the small window there is the letters SMWAN. And costco tech support doesn't know what it means other that rebooting the whole system hate it.

Hello MILLERRORY,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Answers Forum.  This error has to do with the Windows Winsock connectors.  I am attaching a link to a Microsoft Knowledge Base article that discusses this problem and was the steps to fix the problem.  Read it carefully and make sure you use the steps for Vista!  Here is the link:

Answer 2:MY PROBLEM IS WHEN I START MY COMPUTER, I ENTER MY PASSWORD AND IT GOES INTO THE WINDOWS VISTA PAGE AND THEN EVERITHING TURNS BLACK
